On Sunday 11 February 2018 mountain bikers from all over the world enjoyed a really exciting show. In fact, the 16th edition of the Red Bull Valparaiso Cerro Abajo, the most spectacular urban downhill race, was held in Valparaiso (Chile).
The favorite Tomas Slavik, already winner of the 2017 edition, did not disappoint the expectations: the large audience that invaded the colorful barrios of the Chilean city ( Unesco heritage) gave a breathtaking run. In the 2 km race, launching from roofs and interiors of private houses, the Czech biker got the better of the New Zealander Matt Walker and the Chilean Matias Núñez, who completed the coveted podium.
In a unique setting, with more than 20,000 people on the edge of the streets of the colorful city, the 35 qualified riders have raced at over 60 km/h, skipping walkways, gaps, balconies and endless stairways. A breathtaking show that offered by these great bikers, able to face the pitfalls with great technique and courage.
The video below shows us in particular the beautiful descent of Tomas Slavik, which allowed him to win for the second consecutive year the coveted competition.
