Sunday, March 26, 2017 was held the Australian Grand Prix on the street circuit in Melbourne, the first race of the season of the Formula 1 championship 2017. The anticipation was high, after the Barcelona test that they had seen the Ferrari get good times, best those of the Mercedes had dominated undisputedly that last 3 years.
The first place in qualifying was Lewis Hamilton, as usual in Melbourne where starts from the first position by 4 consecutive races, but next to him a combative Sebastian Vettel had earned second place, while in the second row their mates Valtteri Bottas and Kimi Raikkonen were their bodyguards.
At the start of the race the positions remained unchanged until the first pit stop, made by Hamilton. The British returned to the track behind Max Verstappen, unable to overcome it. This has enabled Sebastian Vettel, who before the pit stop was seconded by about 1.5 seconds, to close the gap and get back on track before the two drivers fighting, resisting at the overtaking attempt by the Dutchman and fly away as well, giving the victory Ferrari that had been lacking throughout 2016.
A debut that bodes well for the fans of the Maranello team who see Vettel back on the highest step of the podium (completed by Bottas, third ahead of Raikkonen) and putting the Red, once again, respected in the paddock.
