In this cloudy morning two Saabs are ready to race on the mile quarter when the green light turns on, to determine which one is the faster: the older Saab 9000 Turbo 2.3 litres or the younger Saab 9-5 Aero also equipped with a 2.3 litres turbo engine? The 9-5 has a 4-straight engine with 185 horse power and reaches the maximum speed of 230 km/h with manual drive, reduced at 225 km/h with the Sentronic automatic drive. The powerest Saab 9-5 Aero could reach a maximum power of 259 hp, so a lot more than the car in this video.
Instead the 9000 (produced from 1984 to 1998 in cooperation with FIAT) has a power of 190 hp, with the older 4-straight engine. A very close power difference, so the final result will be made by the drivers' skills. The video is recorded in the cockpit of the Saab 9000, framing the 9-5 aero: at the start the oldie gets some metres of advantage against the young, maybe surprised by the reactivity of the Saab 9000 at low round.
For both, at high round will be activate the Turbocharger that will give the full sprint. Will the Saab 9000 keep the advantage until the end of the drag race?
