Saab 9-3 Aero Vs. BMW M5 E39
On the blacktop there are a Swedish Saab 9-3 Aero and a German BMW M5 E39 that under the rain are waiting the start to demonstrate which car is the fastest. The drag race has its start at 50 km/h (about 30 mph) and the end arrives when the first one reaches the 180 km/h (about 112 mph).
The camera is in the Saab cockpit, recording on the left side where there is the rival. The BMW M5 has a power of 420 horse power and is rear-wheel drive, that on the wet usually is more performing. The engine is a 5.0 Litres V8, electronically limited to 250 km/h (155 mph), the acceleration 0-100 km/h takes only 5.3 seconds and the body is really sport with the rear spoiler and four exhausts.
Contrary the Saab 9-3 Aero has a front-wheel drive that let off all the 380 horse power of the engine, ably tuned by Nordic Performance, and it is only a 2.0 Litres 4-straight, that makes the Saab an underdog in this challenge against a car with 2,5 times its engine volume. But the Saab also has a weight of 1.400 kg (3000 lbs) while the BMW weighs more than 1.700 kg (3750 lbs).
So the drag race is not so obvious as it could appear and maybe it will end with a big surprise..
