Renault 5 Maxi Turbo: launch, flames & sound

The Renault 5 was born in the early 70s in France, winning in a short time a large market share at home and across Europe. During the first year were put on the market three versions: "L" with a 782 cc engine and 34 horses, "TL" with 956 cc engine and 43 horses, "LS" engine of 1289 cc and 64 horses. In 1976 he was presented the first sports model, the 5 Alpine with a 1397cc engine, which develops 93 hp.

Over the years, Renault makes leaps and bounds and in 1980 create the R5 Turbo with a turbocharged 4-cylinder mounted on the Alpine, this engine was able to develop 160 horsepower.

But very three years later he was replaced by R 5 Turbo 2 created to break down the list price of R 5 Turbo, the engine does not change, but change the car's interior.

In this short video we will see the Renault 5 Maxi Turbo, the latest addition to Renault in 1984. Many parts come from V6 Turbo Formula 1, it has a 1527 cc engine that develops a power of 350 hp.
