The Original SacherTorte is a combination of two layers of chocolate cake separated by apricot jam and coated with a chocolate icing, sometimes you can find in the side of the dish of the Sacher a little bit of whipped cream. The cake was designed for the Emperor Francis Joseph I and he's been really impressed from it... and now it became an important part of the Viennese culture. More than 360,000 cakes a year are made in Vienna and most of them are shipped all over the world.
