BMW M3 E46 vs BMW M3 E30 Drag Race
The Drag race recorded by this video amateur is one of the classic challenge between two cars of the Bayerische Motoren Werke, commonly known as BMW. Behind the starting line two of the most successful car of the M3 series, that is the Motosport (from here the capital letter M of the acronym) version of BMW.
On the left a black M3 E46, third generation of the series, 3.2 Litres 6-straight engine with an original power of 338 hp regulated by a 6-speed transmission, available both in manual and automatic drive. The E46 acceleration 0-100 km/h takes only 5.2 seconds and this car reaches the 250 km/h (155 mph) electronically limited, while without the CPU control the maximum speed is 270 km/h (170 mph).
On the right lane an older M3, rather the oldest M3: the E30. Born in the middle of the '80s due to compete in the DTM championship against Ford Sierra and Mercedes Benz 190, the bavarian factory produced the car that became an icon of Germany in all the world.
The E30 was equipped with a straight-4 engine of 2.3 litres, with a power of about 200 hp. The race models were naturally aspirated and got 300 hp, turned into the 380 hp of the 2.5 litres evolution engine of the 1990.
The E30 was produced in 16.202 examples until its retire from the market in 1992.
This challenge seems have no story, considering that the E46 is newer and more powerful. But be careful that the E30 is not as it left the factory..
